The ultralight Aluminum Beverage Can ~Environmental Contribution from the Bottom of Can~

The ultralight Aluminum Beverage Can
~Environmental Contribution from the Bottom of Can~

  • Toyo Seikan Co., Ltd.

CBR - Compression Bottom Reform - has been innovated as a novel technique for 2-piece aluminum cans to significantly enhance the strength of the can's bottom compared to conventional designs, resulting in a drastic reduction in weight. CBR enables creating a can bottom with superior rigidity when compared to traditional cans, which leads to improved resistance to internal pressure and impact when dropped. Since CBR compresses the can from the inside, aluminum in the reformed area can be thicker. As a result, the compressive strength has been improved by 28%, resulting in a 20% reduction in the weight of the can bottom and the utilization of thinner material. For 350ml cans, the material, which is the thinnest in the world at 0.220mm and weighs 9.9g, is applicable.

Packaging for Artificial Marble Counters with Shock Absorption Function

Packaging for Artificial Marble Counters with Shock Absorption Function

  • TOTO LTD.

An artificial marble counter designed for facilities like public restrooms was packaged along with a stabilizing base at the bottom to ensure secure placement. While this base has the strength to support the weight of the counter, it is vulnerable to damage from minor external impacts, potentially leading to breakage of the contents. To address this issue, we have enhanced the base's design by incorporating triangular cutouts on the connecting surface of the support base. These cutouts eliminate the rigid portions of the joints, effectively absorbing external impacts.
