Therefore, the package bottom has been developed to be glued together by machine with a window occupying over 22 percent of the bottom surface to show the best before date on the bottom of the cans. As a result, the package features enhanced functionality and usability, clearly showing the best before date.

The large cold transport packaging consists of a container and pallet made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) offering high thermal insulation. Conventionally, steel-made special palettes were utilized to transport window glass, which required considerable costs for delivery and return; therefore, cardboard one-way packaging has been developed. Given loading and fixing methods, pads made of paper tubes are placed on the bottom and top to fix the product because the glass is large and heavy. In addition, the packaging uses the 0200 outer box for workability, the glass can continue standing during packing work and the packaging can be used for different glass sizes.

To transport precision reducers, glued laminated corrugated boards were used for bottom pads to support the content, creating problems with poor transportation efficiency and for storage areas. To solve the problems, the packaging has been improved by creating a double-structured laminated corrugated board with a half cutting process, which can be delivered flat, reduce the storage area and the materials, eliminate the adhesive process, and enhance workability and cost efficiency.

Packaging using corrugated cardboard cushioning material for heavy precision equipment

A new duplex automatic document feeder for A4 multifunction printers is a compact equipment without sufficient surface to be supported by cushioning material while being heavy precision equipment. Targeting SDGs, we have adopted corrugated cardboard instead of foamed resin. We developed a packaging which cleared in-house testing by improvement of the folding structure of the corrugated cardboard to enhance the cushioning performance. Simultaneously, the cost has been reduced by 25 percent compared with packaging for other equipment of the same weight.

Adjuster Removable Type Cushioning Material

A heavy product with casters and adjusters on the bottom was fixed, using wooden holders to lift the product and to maintain the space for the casters during transportation. However, when removing the wooden holders for unpacking, additional equipment and working space were required to ensure safety. Consequently, the foamed polyethylene cushion has been developed to be attached to the adjusters and to lift up the product, which can be removed without lifting the product when unpacked.

The package has been developed targeting SDGs and reducing the total logistic costs because the conventional packaging using foamed plastics as cushioning caused issues for placing orders and storing. HiPLE-ACE has been used for the outer and inner packages, enabling being plastic-free, improving the storage space and transportation efficiency by being stackable and reducing the total logistic costs by 27 percent annually by being returnable.
