Reducing plastic use by opting for paper, this products' use of kraft paper grants warmth, organic texture and an instant impression as environmentally friendly. The paper usage rate is about 20% while plastic usage is reduced by about 20%. A plant-based PE is used for the tube head and petroleum-based plastic is reduced by approximately 48%. The FSC certified paper is used, and an elliptical tube container facilitates easy squeezing.

We developed infinity recycle aluminum cups (GREEN-AL CUP) as an alternative to plastic cups. Recycle technology we developed through aluminum cans recycle (Can-to-Can) is applied to one-way beverage cups.

Various designs can be printed on cup surface. This cup is sturdy, cool feeling, stackable, easy to pull out from stacked cups and cup diameter is designed to be easy to hold. Aluminum cups are planned to be adopted in outdoor events and theme parks. Used cups can be collected and recycled as an aluminum cup material.

The shape of the shampoo and conditioner foamer are different so they are also easy to distinguish.

We have developed a new bath cleaner that can easily distribute detergent evenly and remove dirt just by rinsing. By adopting a new trigger equipped with a pressure accumulation piston, anyone can now easily spray the entire bathtub area. Continuous spraying without interruption is made possible by repetitive pulling of the lever in a constant rhythm. This allows efficient distribution of a thin coating of the product across the whole area, especially over wide areas. Further, the universal design of the long lever and hand guide cover allows natural grip of the lever tip and use with light pressure.

Cardboard cases for large-capacity (2ℓ) aseptic bottles are becoming lighter in weight, so it is difficult for the cases alone to support the load when stacked and the bottles also share the load. Bottle weights have also become lighter and are distorted vertically to increase its strength. This distortion has led to case buckling when the bottles receive a load. In solution, we have developed a corrugated cardboard case that allows three pallets to be stacked without changing the material of the case. In order to maximize the strength of the bottle, the case is designed to exhibit strength at the corners while absorbing vertical bottle distortion. In addition, damage of cases is less visible to keep good appearance.

The packaging materials for automotive evaporators used to be made up of cardboard mounts with laminated cardboard for the inner material. Because of product specifications differing for each model, the packaging materials also varies. Therefore, we aimed to reduce costs by standardizing the packaging materials and reducing manual work. We reexamined the areas where protection was necessary to secure the product and protect the pipes with a single L-shaped inner material. For products that came with an oil can, a storage space for the can was provided in the L-shaped inner material. As a result, the number of internal materials has been reduced by 85%, the number of types of internal materials by 75% through standardization, the volume of internal materials by 80%, the material unit price by 56%, man-hour for packaging by 67%, packaging volume by 22%, and packaging material weight by 52%.

To reduce the weight of 6 can packs, we have drastically changed our conventional approach and succeeded in a bold development with our top priority of making the most environmentally friendly packaging in the world. By completely omitting the advertisement which was considered important in the past and minimizing the indication, the paper surface has been reduced by 77% for the 350ml 6 pack and by 81% for the 500ml 6 pack. Adopting a structure in which each can is gripped around the neck grants more holding power than before and can be carried by inserting a finger into the hole from above. Rigidity is also improved by adding a side panel to have a three-dimensional structure and be held without falling apart even when tilted or turned upside down.

This is the world's first commercialized blister packs using biomass plastics. The biomass film used for the blister pack is biomass-derived PE, enabling the reduction of CO2 emissions by more than 40% compared to conventional PP films. In addition to the ease of taking out the tablets, the package has the pockets and appearance same as the conventional product, fully satisfies long-term expiration dates and secures product quality. It can be manufactured with existing packaging machines by adjusting manufacturing conditions without capital expenditures, so this packaging will trigger the adoption of biomass films in the industry.

We have developed a disposable simulated test lung for ventilators for the purpose of reducing the cost and the risk of infection of healthcare workers. The plastic cover of the outer shell is replaced with paper covers to reduce waste and CO2 emissions, which alleviates costs by more than 80 to 90%. Low-dust paper used in cleanrooms and white paper materials are chosen in consideration of safety. The expansion and contraction of the lungs can be reproduced through the pillow type cover. The rubber band is intentionally pink to be visible from a distance. At disposal, it can be easily sorted for recycling by opening the perforations at the bottom of the paper cover.

We have developed an eco-friendly alcohol sanitizer that uses a pump paper container, reducing the amount of plastic used by about 55%. After the contents have been used up, it can be easily flattened by peeling off the folded adhesive part on the side, which features material reduction and disposability. Usability is taken into consideration by making the refill process easy with a simple replacing process. Additionally, the original container structure has realized a specialized design which allows the dispenser pump to be attached in the center, so that the pump can be attached to a new container after use.

We have worked on developing a package which can achieve both a longer product life and reduced environmental loads in the EC shopping of pickled fish. The printed design expresses the high-end aesthetic of the gift box which can be commonly used for different contents of 8, 10, or 12 individual packages by simply changing the partition. For individual packages containing pickled fish, a skin pack filling machine from HIPACK CO.,LTD. has been newly introduced. The packages can prevent contents from dripping through adopting the transparent barrier film GL BARRIER to maintain freshness and GREEN FLAT paper trays. The amount of paper used for the entire packaging has been reduced by placing the products in two tiers instead of laying them flat.

The use of FSC-certified mix paper contributes to promoting consumer awareness of Lion's environmental efforts and promotes products which make effective use of the flat, smooth surface unique to paper packaging.

The distinct slender form of the bottle combines functionality and femininity together. Refilling is easy with a cartridge system where a refill is simply set in the dedicated container. An airless container is used for the refill, so that the liquid can be used up to the end while keeping the liquid in a fresh state. As the contents of the refill container decrease, the gray component inside the container rises to indicate the remaining amount. This refill type packaging has reduced the amount of plastic resin waste by 38% compared to conventional containers.

A large-capacity ink supply unit is dated for release as a function expansion device for commercial inkjet printers. The unit includes accessories of various shapes and materials, such as L-shaped pieces which cause poor storage efficiency, and long hoses that cannot be bent. In response, we have developed a packaging that stores these items inside the cushioning of the unit to reduce the package size. As a result, the number of tiers in the shipping container has been increased from two to three, transportation efficiency by 50%, and the amount of packaging materials used has been reduced by 30% by eliminating the additional boxes to contain accessories.

The EcoCute Tank is a hollow product with a height of 2.2m and a weight of 80kg. In order to improve the product protection function while reducing the materials used, the cushioning support have been located exclusively in areas that are most effective for cushioning. Additionally, the cushioning support can be easily set by fixing it to the outer cardboard notch, eliminating the need for glue or tape. As a result, the amount of packaging materials has been reduced by 12% and material CO2 emissions by 348 tons per year.

With the primary objective as significantly reducing the amount of resin used, we have developed the Air-in Film Bottle, which acts as the main container instead of a refill, using film as the main component. It consists of three films and a spout with a screw. By sealing the two outer films to form a space called an air circuit and enclosing air therein, a float-like structure is formed in the body and bottom of the container, achieving the pumping strength and standing stability of the container. This is the outer bag. The inner film forms the inner bag which shrinks by airless pump as the remaining amount decreases while the outer bag maintains its shape thanks to the air circuit, achieving low remaining amount and sanitation. This technology can also be applied to toiletry products in general and food products.

The packaging has been developed to distinguish the newly released apple liqueur from existing products. The roof-shaped flap, the texture of the material which recycles cacao bean husks, and graphics on the package produce a rustic aesthetic of the product. Using ultra-thin "Micro-flute" corrugated board and one-part center-crossing assembly shape, the package showcases the product without the use of plastics.

It also has effective cushioning properties thanks to the space between the product and the box. This package is eco-friendly with regard to both shape and material.

New specifications for cardboard boxes for online shopping deliveries have been developed with the aim of realizing resource-saving and low-cost materials to respond to the increasing manufacturing and environmental costs. The delivery slip/invoice label can be used as tape sealing because the previous outer-flap lock structure required additional length of the outer flap for temporarily fixing the sealing surface (box top surface) and increased material usage. This newly developed Kuwagata Lock forms a temporary lock structure using part of the inner flap and has succeeded in requiring the same surface area of material as the conventional box without a lock (type 0201).

This all paper made box maintains and expresses the ornate elegance of a ribbon-tied gift box. The large ribbon symbolic of presents is used as the motif. The main body of the box is cubic, and the decorative parts on the top are assembled by crossing over each other, granting a sealing function that does not require stickers or tapes. It can be re-sealed easily without the need for re-tying.

About 500 aluminum cases of three types are regularly shipped per month using air cushioning materials and cardboard boxes. However, the packaging required a lot of man-hours, presented inconsistent quality and wasted single-use cushioning materials. To solve this issue, we have developed an easy-to-work and reusable plastic spacer which can be set in the front and back of the contents and fastened with a band. In addition to making work easy and ensuring stable quality, this is commonly applicable to three types of the products, simplifying the material management. As a result, the previous monthly disposal of 600m2 of air cushioning materials has been completely eliminated to zero waste, and the time spent for packing work has been reduced from three minutes to less than two. The spacers can be stacked when not in use to save space.

This is a package that uses 100% bamboo paper containing 100% Japanese bamboo pulp for the 4-meal set of fresh noodles and broth from the first Okinawa soba restaurant Uruma Gozen. The biggest feature is that it uses Japan's first sustainable Sumi ink containing bamboo charcoal powder. The product design has a retro aesthetic emphasized by the packaging material.

When a load cannot be directly supported by the porcelain because of localized protrusions or other shapes in the porcelain, layered cushioning material can be placed along the shape of the porcelain to achieve a load bearing structure that utilizes the properties of the rigid porcelain. By aligning the overlapping notches of the cushioning material and inserting a stopper, the angle can be maintained while preventing the material from falling or slipping. Changing the position of the notches enables the angle to be freely adjusted. The amount of corrugated cardboard used has also been reduced by approximately 30% compared to the conventional structure.

This is also applicable for selling craft beer by weight, eliminating the need for containers when selling beer.

We have transitioned away from the conventional plastic-heavy packaging of DSLR cameras to a new packaging specification, greatly reducing the amount of plastic used. A cellulose non-woven fabric bag has been selected to contain the camera body and accessories, the band to bundle the strap belt has been changed from plastic to paper, and the vinyl tie to bundle the cable has also been changed to paper. As a result, the amount of plastic used has been reduced by more than 80%.

In the cosmetics industry where colorful and gorgeous packages are the mainstream, we started developing paper mold packages using wastepaper as SDGs activities. By developing a technology for molding a package by mixing wastepaper and resin fibers, we have developed a package that is strong enough to resist deformation caused by moisture and other factors. Applying foil stamping to the surface which has a limited area, a paper mold package with a texture reminiscent of ancient Japanese paper has been created. In addition, the film for labeling on the back also contains resin fibers, realizing to have high adhesion to the main body.

A exterior case has been developed to shorten time required for unpacking, stocking and installing of promotional materials when displaying products at a storefront. Taking apart the two corners found on the front of the exterior case allows the case to be lifted, presenting the product display stand. The display inside the case has a structure that does not fall off due to the semicircle on the bottom of the two corners of the outer case. It can be unpacked by opening up the two corners from the front of the outer case outwards by 45 degrees and removing it. As a result, the outer case can be easily opened with no effort required to display the stand.

Meal preparation and cleanup can be done quickly, and the fun design creates valuable time for parents and infants to enjoy meals and spend time together.

To solve these challenges, we have developed the packaging with environmental considerations also in mind. Features include: a special zipper shape and track on the long side that enables easy long-distance opening, resource saving by having the short flaps on the shorter sides, short side flaps that achieve both cargo handling resistance and ease of opening and ruled lines that suppress bulging through zipper processing. As a result, unpacking time has been reduced by 70%, and CO2 emissions by 32t/year through resource conservation.

A wooden box has typically been used for transport box for steam turbine blades, with plywood used as a partition. However, in addition to customer needs of reducing environmental impact, there are also issues such as the large packaging mass of wooden boxes, high transportation costs and the need for extended man hours to wrap and unpack. We have developed a package that uses corrugated cardboard as the main material. As a result of most of the materials changed to cardboard, CO2 emissions at disposal have been reduced by 88%, packaging weight including contents from 370kg to 150kg and air transportation costs by 60%. Replacing wooden boxes with cardboard sleeves and caps has also reduced packing and unpacking time by 20% each.

Aiming to improve productivity by automating packing using bubble sheet (known as puti puti), we have developed a machine named the Puti Packer that can perform pillow packaging with stable sealing strength even with an automatic machine. Conventionally, it was necessary to laminate a separate film to improve the seal strength, but this machine allows sealing with only bubble sheet. When shipping automotive windshields overseas as spare parts, the conventional package contained two windshields into one cardboard-box, because its curved shape cause bad space efficiency. However, in response to the recent shortage of containers, soaring marine transportation costs, and the fact that windshields were repackaged separately at overseas shipping destinations, we have developed a new packaging format. Features include individual packaging and the adjustment function to support various glass heights. As a result, the area used for cardboard has been reduced by 46%, transportation efficiency and cost have been improved by 38% and 31%. The need for repackaging has been also eliminated at the destination and the new format requires only one person to work with instead of two.
