Based on customer demand, we have improved the Kagome Jojuku Sauce container. An individual telescope box for smartphones consists of a top and bottom box. The design and fitting force of the boxes are important because when the top box is lifted to open it, the bottom may drop, running the risk of damaging the contents. Aiming for the ultimate zero environmental load, the environmental plan Road to Zero was started in 2010, and the mid-term environmental target by 2025 is on track. The issue to take out the intermediate transfer belt which is the maintenance part for multifunctional machines from the package was that wrinkles formed on the belt. Initially, the opening side to take out the content was changed from the smallest side to the largest one to settle the issue; however, the workability for assembling and inserting the product was decreased. As a result, the developed package has two opening sides now: a small one to insert the product in the factory and a large one to take it out when delivered.

To improve the productivity, a cover box has been innovated to stack the products and eliminate the lashing work. The returnable box of sheet metal parts used between factories has been improved to eliminate the wasted time for restacking on trolleys when delivered and wasted materials. Then, the parts stored on the trolley can be delivered and moved directly to the assembly line.

As a result, wasted space has been eliminated and the content capacity has been enhanced 20 percent. Moreover, the assembling time has been reduced 50 percent and the packaging weight 50 percent.

A newly developed partition helps store more products and improve transportation efficiency because the conventional one created a huge empty space when the products were set. By cutting grooves in the one-piece partition and simply folding it in a U shape, the products can be fixed firmly without gaps. Usually, the packaging for those products is produced by processing pure soft aluminum in the impact extrusion process. However, our newly developed industrial packaging has been created by processing hard aluminum alloys and applying the DWI (Draw and Wall Ironing) process, which is generally used for beverage cans to be thinner and have lighter packaging.
Aluminum alloys can include a large quantity of recycled materials, reducing the CO₂ emissions in the manufacturing process. As a result, the total reduction ratio is approximately 60 percent, including the reduction due to weight savings.
