Tomato has two cell layers in general that form the pericarp, but “Kinuhiko Hime” has single and thin layer. Consequently, despite its high evaluation with respect to taste, it could not be commercialized because of damage due to shocks during transportation with conventional packaging. However, we found out from actual transport environment survey that urethane cushioning tray, cushioning sheet, and hygienic anti-fog sheets yielded optimum protection. As a result, we developed packaging that can maintain quality of thin skin tomatoes by home delivery.
