Packaging components used for China-made air-conditioner compressors imported to Japan were made returnable. The key-points achieved are as follows: (1) Materials suitable for overseas transportation environments were developed; (2) folding of the sleeve for accommodating at the time of returning has been enabled; (3) securing the compressor directly with a paper tube, achieving both function and workability; and (4) standardized specifications in the compressor models/series of models, and achieved waste amount of 221 tons/year and a CO₂ reduction of 129 tons/year.
