Packaging Research Institute of JPI
In 1980, JPI established its"Packaging Research Institute" for the purpose of attaining further progress and development of packaging technique, regardless of the category of enterprises and industries.
This Laboratory performs technical research on softwares only, leaving research on hardwares such as packaging equipment, etc. to existing research organizations.
Packaging Research Institute has six Divisions i.e."Transport Packaging Research Div.","Consumer Packaging Research Div.", "Packaging System Research Div.", "Packaging Material Research Div.", "International Packaging Research Div." and "Packaging Management Research Div.". The purpose of this Institute is to fulfill the "function as a think tank"in the field of packaging technique in Japan, keeping a close relation with the technical committee of JPI.The Institute performs the following activities
@ Standardization of packages used by the related industries and consumers as well as preparation of proper standards A Collection and arrangement of statistics on packaging as well as investigation and research on the competitive condition of various packaging materials B Investigation and research on new materials in the field of packaging C Investigation and research on disposition and recycling of packaging wastes D Investigation and research on the effect of mechanization of packaging work E Research on the adjustability of product designing and packaging condition F Investigation on the economical effect of packaging and research on the effect of its improvement G Investigation on the circumstances of packaging in overseas and technical cooperation H Investigation, research, guidance and consulting on the management of packaging I Technical guidance and counselling on packaging J Other businesses to attain the purpose of the Laboratory @
